MAGIC MARKET WEEK Recap

     Last month, I had the exciting opportunity to attend Magic Market Week in Las Vegas, NV thanks to Indigenous.  Actually comprised of 9 different apparel trade shows spread over two different locations, my day at MAGIC was really exhausting!

     I want to give a big thank you to Indigenous, who I worked with on their #worthwearing styling campaign, for inviting me to attend a panel they were hosting at WWDMagic about eco-branding and for extending a way for me to attend the show.  I learned a lot and had an interesting experience taking part in the panel - a story for another post.

Visiting the Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden

     The Ethel M chocolate factory has been located in Henderson, Nevada since the brand's start in 1981.  I remember being in elementary school and taking a field trip to check out their factory tour and bringing home some delicious goodies.  The current factory tour is self guided - giving the opportunity to read information and look inside the factory at a comfortable pace - complete with chocolate tasting at the end.

They even use some of the original equipment!

Green Festival Los Angeles Update

     I just wanted to make an update on my experience at Green Festival in Los Angeles and let you more about what is coming next!

     Green Festival is a multi-city celebration of all things sustainable - including clothes, food, home items, services, and more.  It showcases brands and products screened by Green America and Global Exchange for their commitment to remaining ethically and environmentally conscious.  In addition to Los Angeles, the event is also held in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Washington D.C.  I have attended in Chicago but was so busy with finals for school that I didn't really get to experience it.
     It was so inspiring to meet up with other sustainability minded people.  The event is set up so there are presentation stages featuring knowledgeable speakers of different aspects of being green - from cooking, shopping, running a business, or general living.  Between the stages and throughout the convention center were booths showcasing items or services from green exhibitors.

October 29, 2012 #foodiechats theme: "The Deli"

        #foodiechats is a weekly Twitter and Instagram chat "where the foodie community chats together".  Every Monday night at 8pm EST, @steveGOgreen starts the party - each of 10 questions relating to the week's theme is asked every ten minutes. 

        Last week's theme was all things deli and was sponsored by Steve's Deli in Chicago.  As I mentioned in my last post, I picked a great long weekend to visit Chicago and was able to attend a live event at Steve's Deli. 

        I have been to some of the bigger live events at Union Sushi & Barbecue and The Anthem and heard of other events at Paris Club, Big Bowl, and other delicious venues.  I had never been to one of the more intimate gatherings nor to Steve's Deli so this was really a treat.
